Umami Restaurant

Recently, I dined twice within one week at Umami Restaurant in San Francisco.  I was impressed both times.  I loved the food, the service and the atmosphere.  And I also really appreciate that this restaurant uses local, organic ingredients.

I was quite happy to see that the service was very friendly and helpful both times I visited, too.  They were eager to explain the dishes and to talk about the sources of the ingredients.  It seemed that they were really proud of their restaurant and its fresh cuisine.

The food was really excellent – primarily Vietnamese and Japanese styles.  My favorite dishes included the yellowfin ahi tuna poke, the rice paper salad rolls, the pan-fried minced chicken gyoza potstickers, the Hanoi style seared day-boat scallops, the miso-glazed black cod gindara, the Korean hot pot (an absolute must!), and the steamed broken rice.   They had nice desserts, too.

My husband recently took a group of 23 people there.  They have a wonderful large table in their dining room, and the group raved about the dinner afterwards.

I can hardly wait to return!
